The Safe Harbors Bill was signed into law July, 2011-officially recognizing children caught in sex trafficking as victims, not
criminals. Although this law is on the books, how the law is put into action is still being decided.Michele Garnett McKenzie, Director of Advocacy for The Advocates for Human Rights, will explain what steps need to be taken for the new law to go into effect and how Minnesotans can help in developing, implementing, and sustaining this revolutionary victim-centered response to children at risk of commercial sexual exploitation. All are welcome to attend.
