Finding Light in the Darkness

Even in bitter cold and heavy times, more than 140 members of the CSJ community gathered for Stirring the Fire — our annual CSJ retreat — seeking and sharing glimmers of hope, light, and solidarity in the darkness.

Growing Food Justice

Together, the Sisters of St. Joseph and St. Catherine University continue a 120-year tradition of innovation—demonstrating how mission-centered collaboration can generate practical, scalable solutions where food equity, environmental sustainability, and human dignity meet.

A Community Responds with Love

At a peace prayer service at Carondelet Village, S. Linda Napier, CSJ, posed a question to the gathered community: “What difference does it make?” Do our humble actions make a difference—especially when immigrant neighbors are living in fear, struggling to make ends meet, and risking detention during the influx of thousands of federal agents into Minnesota?

Meeting a Leader Who Listens

Seeing Senator Erin Murphy in person made politics feel real and personal for the first time. Her courage and transparency inspired me to believe that one person truly can spark change.

Showing Up: An Act of Solidarity

“What can I do?” These days, that question often carries more than a practical inquiry—it can be a deeper lament, a longing to do something.

The Table is Set

For more than 20 years, the spirit of welcome has shaped our food justice programming. Through the CSJ Community Garden and, more recently, the St. Kate’s/CSJ Food Access Hub, we’ve welcomed neighbors, students, and young adults into deeper community and connection.

We Have Been Made for These Times

At the recent National Justice Conference of WomenReligious (JCWR), more than 100 justice promoters from Catholic women’s communities gathered to reflect on two pressing questions: “How are we to be?” and “What is ours to do?” Sr. Mumbi Kigutha, CPPS reminded us, “Knowing our history allows us to move forward with purpose and intention.”

CSJ Charism is Alive in Kenya

For over half a century, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet have expanded their mission through Associates, Consociates, Ohana, and Familia—committed women and men who, while not taking religious vows, embrace the Congregation’s charism of loving God through service to the “Dear Neighbor.” It was this extended family that would bring hope to communities desperate for clean water and education.
