Supporting the LGBTQIA+ Community During Pride Month and Beyond
Throughout Pride Month, we celebrated the sacredness of all life, acknowledged the work still to be done, and witnessed our charism of the community- the unifying love of ALL.
We marched and danced in the streets of Minneapolis, Minnesota, the first city in the country to pass a non-discrimination ordinance. While July marked the end of another Pride Month, our support continues. We invite you to accompany people in the LGBTQIA+ communities, being a loving presence on their journey to live authentically and with integrity. Together, we strive to be true allies to our LGBTQIA+ neighbors as we seek a more just world for all.
Why is it important for the CSJ Justice Commission and Sisters of St. Joseph to be involved in Pride?
Since our founding, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet have been called to love the dear neighbor without distinction. We respond boldly to the needs of our times, welcoming everyone to the table. Rooted in Jesus’ loving mission to welcome all, we express his love by accompanying and supporting the LGBTQIA+ communities. We choose unifying love.
A message from Sister Linda Taylor, CSJ
“To me, Pride means celebrating love, acceptance, and community. My favorite moment at the Pride Parade is always when I am with the people, and we all shout ‘HAPPY PRIDE’ to each other. I am always so proud of our CSJ Community when we are at the parade. It gives us a chance to say, ‘We love and appreciate you!’ Their enthusiastic response made me feel that they appreciated and loved us back. I hope our presence and love tell them God loves them, and they are precious to our human community.“
